NOMA National recognizes NOMA Atlanta for their continued efforts to impact our community and profession through service projects, professional development, networking, and collaboration with allied professionals. With NOMA Atlanta’s mission to champion diversity within the design professions by promoting the excellence, community engagement, and professional development of our members, they have done just that over the past year with various programmed events. Programs include but not limited to:

  • NOMA Conference participation
  • Partnerships for general body meetings
  • Equity and Justice Barriers Survey and Research
  • Continued Education Unit Mini Series
  • Student Panel Discussion
  • APRASPIRE CONFERENCE
  • Wine & Learn
  • Red & Green Scene
  • FAIA Pipeline Seminar
  • MLK Day of Service
  • Say It Loud (SIL)
  • Summer Barbecue

We value all of our chapters’ work but want to take a moment to spotlight Atlanta for their mile. We are confident that they will be able to reach their goals of providing enhanced member benefits, engagements, advocacy, and justice to the profession.

Tiara Hughes: How does it feel to be selected as a featured NOMA Spotlight?

Ralph Raymond: The Atlanta chapter is thrilled to be spotlighted by NOMA National. NOMAtlanta is continually excited to be part of the overall mission of advocacy. We stand on the shoulders of all those who have come before us and prepare to support those who are yet to come. Our advocacy extends beyond championing our minority community of architects, designers, and students; to representing the communities that represent us. The impact of our mission is too important and touches too many for it to cease, which is why we happily continue our efforts here in the city of Atlanta and the state.

TH: What is the plan moving forward to keep the momentum going?

RR: In these times, we are primarily focusing on 3 key pillars. We are continuing to reach out to companies and institutions which are in need of better justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion practices. We are continuing to reach to the next generations and lifting them up through engagement, mentorship, and Project Pipeline. Lastly, we are continuing to provide support and resources to our members for growth, advancement, and opportunities to do bigger and better business. We happily stand alongside our National board!
